Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of automation, conveyor, and custom machinery projects from concept through implementation.

You will create SolidWorks designs and fabrication drawings, collaborate with project teams, and specify motors, gearboxes, bearings, and structural components, while mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design experience in automation, conveyor systems, material handling, or custom machinery.
• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency.
• Experience creating manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication processes, and machine design.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts for custom automation and material handling systems
• Create detailed SolidWorks designs, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation
• Collaborate with project management, manufacturing, and customer teams to ensure successful project execution
• Specify mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and structural systems
• Provide technical support during machine builds, installations, and troubleshooting
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
