Job summary

Carrier in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the engineering development of commercial water chilling systems. You will integrate mechanical designs into new product development programs and serve as a technical leader across cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years in HVAC product design (or Master’s with 5+ years) and 1+ year in new product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years HVAC product design experience or Master’s degree with 5+ years HVAC product design experience.
• 1+ years of experience with new product development and/or sustaining engineering.

Responsibilities

• Thermodynamic based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration and pumping.
• Work cross functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production.
• Develop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds the product development requirements.
• Confirm product design performance, capability and reliability in the engineering product test laboratories.
• Collaborate with the product marketing teams locally to develop product requirements and ensure that the product meets their needs when launched.
• Prepare phased gate/process materials and present to senior leadership on regular basis.
• Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
• Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
• Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
• Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests
