Job summary

BN Associates Inc. seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to direct conceptualization, design and development of complex mechanical enclosures and industrial systems.

You will drive NPI projects, manage BOMs, PLM processes andDFMEA activities while ensuring on-time delivery and high first-pass yield. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of hands-on design experience, at least 2 years in a technical lead role, and deep knowledge of NEC/IEC/NEMA standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years hands-on mechanical design experience.
• 2+ years in technical lead or supervisory capacity.
• NPI projects for E-houses, modular buildings, plant rooms, or heavy industrial enclosures.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptualization, design and development of mechanical systems with emphasis on GD&T.
• Oversee New Product Introduction (NPI), design change management and PLM.
• Create detailed 3D models, general arrangements and drawings with GD&T.
• Manage BOM and revision control; oversee material selection, sheet metal, welding and corrosion protection.
• Perform DFMEA, hand calculations, tolerance stack-up and reference standards (ASME & ANSI).
• Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) and first-time yield.
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership and cross-functional collaboration; schedule projects effectively.
• Analyze complex data sets to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement.

Job description

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and development, detailing.
• Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Design change Management and PLM.
• Create detailed 3D models, general arrangements, and manufacturing production drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience in Sheet metal, Material selection, Welding and Corrosion protection and Machining.
• Manage design changes, Bill of Materials (BOM) and revision control protocols.
• Experience design validation, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Hand calculations, Tolerance stack up and reference standard (ASME & ANSI).
• Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) and First time Yield.
• Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, cross-functional communication, and project scheduling capabilities.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex data sets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

What You Will Bring:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or supervisory capacity.
• NPI projects specifically for E-houses, modular buildings, plant rooms, or heavy industrial enclosures.
• Familiarity with international standards for industrial enclosures and electrical safety (e.g. NEC, IEC, NEMA classifications) is added advantage.
• Software: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (including sheet metal, frame, and large assembly management) and AutoCAD.
