Job summary

Holmberg Mechanical in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial projects. You will serve as the Engineer of Record and lead concepts through construction with project teams and owners.

We value a WA State PE license or the ability to obtain it quickly, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and 7+ years of HVAC or plumbing design experience. Strong communication and client relations are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Washington State PE license or willingness to obtain it within a short timeframe.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of HVAC or plumbing design experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building systems and applicable codes.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations and stamped construction documents.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial construction projects.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record and provide Washington State PE-stamped construction documents
• Develop mechanical concepts and Basis of Design documentation
• Prepare complete construction drawings and Division 22 & 23 specifications
• Collaborate with owners, architects, contractors, and consultants throughout every project phase
• Participate in project pursuits, interviews, and proposal development to win new work
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and project teams
• Support various delivery methods such as Design-Build, Design-Assist, Progressive Design-Build, MCCM, and Design-Bid-Build
• Review drawings for quality, constructability, coordination, and code compliance
• Provide technical support during construction including submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, and problem-solving
• Stay current with emerging technologies, energy codes, and industry best practices

What You'll Do

As our Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll serve as the technical leader for mechanical system design.

You'll lead projects from concept through construction while collaborating closely with project managers, estimators, field teams, and owners to deliver exceptional results.

• Experience preparing engineering calculations and stamped construction documents
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
