Job summary

Centrus Energy Corp. in the United States is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and upgrade fluid system piping, with growth toward project ownership under senior guidance.

You will design and optimize piping for liquids and gases, perform sizing, provide technical drawings, and support field commissioning with safety and quality in mind.

This role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, ASME familiarity, 2+ years of experience, and the ability to obtain a Q clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• ASME code familiarity and piping-stress fundamentals encouraged.
• (2+) years hands-on experience as a mechanical designer in piping/fluid systems.
• Experience sizing equipment for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related components.
• Familiarity with pressure-drop, pipe-stress concepts, and basic structural checks.
• Knowledge of ASME codes and welding procedures; industrial safety familiarity.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CFD/FEA, and piping-stress software.
• Experience in regulated/process industries advantageous.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and layout facility piping systems, sizing components like pumps, motors, heaters, valves, and pressure vessels.
• Create, update, and redline mechanical/piping drawings, plans, and specifications to code and standards.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA analyses.
• Conduct pipe-stress and support-structure checks; participate in hazard analyses and QA.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations to support procurement.
• Provide field support and assist with factory acceptance tests, inspections, and commissioning.
