Job summary

MSM Industries, LLC in Riverside, CA is seeking a design-driven engineer to lead the development of advanced composite components for new development projects and production support. The role combines hands-on design with cross-functional collaboration to push innovations from concept to manufacturing.

You will focus on mechanical design of phenolic and elastomer systems, ensuring manufacturability, testability, and compliance with aerospace and defense standards while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in mechanical design with composites, thermal control, and vibration damping.
• Hands-on prototyping and manufacturing experience with elastomer and phenolic systems.
• Experience with elastomer and phenolic materials, testing standards, and materials properties.
• Strong CAD skills and ability to create industry-standard drawings.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex mechanical components and assemblies for elastomer and phenolic composite systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define scalable manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Create and maintain process control documents for quality, consistency and efficiency.
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality teams to drive process improvements on existing lines.
• Perform trade studies and define requirements for radar absorption, thermal control, and vibration performance.
• Conduct hand calculations and FEAs on composite structures.
