Job summary

MSM Industries, LLC, based in Irvine, CA, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of advanced composite components and assemblies for new development projects and production sustainment.

You will blend hands-on engineering with cross-functional collaboration, focusing on manufacturability, production readiness, and aerospace/defense standards compliance. Strong leadership and materials expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in design, prototyping, and manufacturing of mechanical/composite systems.
• Strong understanding of elastomer and phenolic materials and testing standards.
• Proficiency in CAD with high-quality engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex mechanical components and assemblies for elastomer and phenolic composites.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Create and maintain process control documentation for compliance and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements on production lines with Manufacturing and Quality teams.
• Perform trade studies and define requirements to optimize designs for radar absorption and thermal control.
• Conduct hand calculations and FEA on composite structures and precision components.
• Prototype and test advanced materials, iterating on performance data.
• Investigate failures and lead root cause analyses across development and production.
