Job summary

The Mullings Group is seeking a Sr. System Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of our capital equipment generator. You will own architecture, detailed component design, and subassembly integration, driving improvements for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

You will guide external engineers, establish design control, and perform analyses and tests to support production transfer. Strong CAD skills and regulated-environment experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development, including complex assemblies or capital equipment.
• Experience owning mechanical designs from concept through release and transfer to production.
• Strong experience with detailed mechanical design, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience guiding engineers or drafters and driving execution without direct people management authority.
• Experience with capital equipment or generator design including structural, thermal, packaging, or electro-mechanical considerations.
• Hands-on root-cause investigation, problem solving, and design for manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of the company’s capital equipment generator, including architecture, detailed component design, and integration of subassemblies.
• Lead design improvements to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost.
• Drive structured problem solving and technical investigations; document conclusions and actions.
• Apply design for manufacturing and cost-reduction principles to mature designs for scalable production.
• Guide external engineers and drafters in creating parts, assemblies, drawings, and documentation.
• Establish and enforce design/configuration control for mechanical components and docs.
• Create and direct detailed drawings, BOMs, specifications, analyses, and reports.
• Perform or oversee tolerance stack-ups, thermal analyses, and related simulations.
