Job summary

IREN seeks a Commissioning Superintendent - Mechanical to lead electrical system commissioning for high-performance data centers in a hands-on, cross-functional role.

You will oversee planning, execution, and validation from pre-functional testing to handover, coordinating with mechanical teams to enhance liquid cooling, HVAC, and BMS integration. Strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical construction management.
• PMP, LEED AP, or similar certificates are a plus.
• Proven experience with liquid cooling systems in data center environments.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and liquid cooling infrastructure.
• Familiarity with data center design standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE TC 9.9).
• Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, MS Office Suite).
• Strong leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of electrical systems including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, generators, and emergency power.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams to integrate electrical systems with liquid cooling and HVAC.
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and schedules.
• Supervise engineers, technicians, and subcontractors; ensure safety and quality standards.
• Review drawings and specs to validate design intent.
• Conduct functional testing and system reliability assessments.
• Ensure NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation for handover and train operations staff.
