Job summary

GMC Commissioning, Inc. seeks a senior mechanical commissioning lead in San Diego to own test script authoring and the direct-to-chip liquid cooling strategy. You will define test plans, MOP/SOP templates, and verification methods for critical facilities, including heat load testing and plant controls.

The role combines leadership, standards development, and field support, with a 30–50% travel expectation. A strong HVAC/controls background and BI/K platforms like SkySpark are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Six or more years in mechanical commissioning, HVAC startup, test and balance, or controls, including at least three years on mission-critical facilities or high-density cooling.
• Demonstrated authorship of L4 functional test scripts and prefunctional checklists.
• Deep chilled water plant knowledge across chillers, cooling towers, and thermal storage.
• Ability to read sequences of operation, piping diagrams, and BAS trend data.

Responsibilities

• Develop test scripts, checklists, and MOP/SOP templates for complex cooling systems.
• Own GMC's technical position on direct-to-chip liquid cooling and heat exchanger performance.
• Define staged heat load strategy and instrumentation for acceptance criteria.
• Set pipework prerequisites, testing, cleaning, balancing, and water quality acceptance.
• Review control sequences, redundancy, and default values for reliability.
• Provide field support and escalation during commissioning.
• Lead hiring and training for new mechanical commissioning staff.
• Travel 30-50% around test windows.
