Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to direct the mechanical field commissioning team on data center projects, overseeing installation verification, equipment startups, and functional performance testing according to the project plan.

The role supervises Mechanical CxAs, ensures quality commissioning records, and coordinates with the Commissioning Program Manager and owner’s team. Requires 10+ years in field commissioning and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or directing mechanical field commissioning teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan, sequence, and assign mechanical field commissioning scope across assigned CxAs.
• Direct and mentor assigned Mechanical Commissioning Authorities (CxAs); review checklists, startup records, and test forms.
• Lead L1 Factory Witness Testing: witness coverage for mechanical equipment and disposition findings.
• Lead L2 mechanical installation verification and pre-startup acceptance: equipment placement, piping connections, support and seismic bracing, insulation, pipe pressure and leak testing, strainer conditions, and pre-startup readiness.
• Direct L3 mechanical equipment startup: chiller startup, cooling tower commissioning, pump and hydronic checks, CRAH/CRAC startup, and controls verification.
• Own L4 functional performance testing: verification of performance, setpoints, alarms, and fail-mode response.
• Lead L5 Integrated Systems Testing for mechanical scope: IST script set with CxA team and cross-system validation.
