Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, machinery and equipment.
  • Lubricate equipment, replace bearings in motors and pumps, adjust valves and tune engines.
  • Install and set up new equipment, clean and paint as needed, maintain maintenance records.

As a Lead Mechanicbased in Jackson, MS, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related facilities equipment. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise at the facilities. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences; and install and sets up new equipment. You’ll also clean and paint interior and exterior equipment and buildings; lean out pipes and perform other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required; use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld; perform duties of painter in their absence; assist in keeping maintenance records; and perform other duties as required. Here’s what you'll need
  • Five years of experience in the maintenance utilities or industrial related equipment, or similar setting
  • Two years of experience working on pumps, motors and other equipment
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions
  • Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and instruments used in the maintenance, repair and calibration of mechanical, electrical and electronic control systems
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of water treatment plant operations and process control
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain
  • Knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations
  • Possess or ability to obtain a state water operator certificate within 1 year

The base salary range for this position is $54,600.00 to $71,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
