Job summary

Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners seeks a master-level mechanic supervisor to oversee maintenance, repair, and overhaul of county vehicles and heavy equipment. You will manage mechanic crews, plan routine maintenance and major repairs, and ensure safe, timely completions.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least four years of experience with gasoline and diesel engines, welding, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years mechanic experience (gasoline and diesel engines).
  • Experience repairing and maintaining light and heavy equipment.
  • Welding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, supervises and works with mechanic and labor crews.
  • Directs and assists in routine maintenance through major repair and overhaul of County vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Inspects malfunctioning equipment and diagnoses cause of failure.
  • Responsible for training subordinate mechanics and staying up to date on new equipment and maintenance techniques.
  • Identifies all parts and tools needed for repairs and insures they are properly requisitioned through Purchasing Department.
  • Operates heavy equipment when necessary.
