Job summary

RSG LANDSCAPING, LLC is seeking a skilled Lead Mechanic to oversee daily shop operations, mentor technicians, and ensure safety and reliability across a broad fleet of automotive, small engine, and heavy equipment assets.

The right candidate will diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, manage preventive maintenance, read schematics, and coordinate parts and vendor services while maintaining thorough records. CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience including automotive repair, small engines, and heavy equipment.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a shop or fleet environment.
• Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and diagnostics.
• Ability to read manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with DOT safety compliance and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet including automotive vehicles, small engines, and heavy equipment.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on engines, drivetrains, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinate parts ordering, inventory control, and outside vendor services.
• Enforce shop safety procedures and promote best practices.
• Assist with equipment evaluations, rebuilds, and replacement planning.
