Job summary

Herc Rentals Inc. in Norcross, GA is seeking a Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance and maintenance operations at the branch. The role requires mastery of procedures across branch, region, and national levels, mentoring B and C level mechanics, and keeping equipment on the rental “ready line.”

You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, and fuel systems, perform major repairs, and ensure safety and quality through proactive maintenance and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3 years of experience repairing heavy equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Ownership of a select set of hand, air and electric tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs independently on Herc fleet gear and trucks.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
• Enter and review work orders and order parts via the fleet management system.
• Train and mentor junior mechanics (B and C levels).
• Produce detailed service reports and keep repair logs.
