Job summary

Archer is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineer for Special Programs in San Jose, CA. You will own the mechanical design, manufacturing planning, and deployment activities for rapid-prototype systems, coordinating across a small, cross-disciplinary team.

The role demands aerospace/defense hardware experience, DFx skills, and the ability to operate with significant ownership in a fast-paced setting. A U.S. security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and analysis for aerospace/defense hardware.
• Experience with design-for-manufacturability and production planning.
• Familiarity with deployment logistics and fielding considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and analysis for prototype systems including mechanisms and packaging.
• Lead manufacturing planning for prototype hardware, focusing on manufacturability and readiness.
• Support deployment and fielding of prototype systems including logistics and handling.
• Support rapid prototyping from concept sketches to detailed design and testing.
• Own the mechanical design and deployment discipline within Special Programs.
• Evaluate technical feasibility of new opportunities and approaches.
• Collaborate across Special Programs and Archer engineering teams.
• Produce technical docs, trade studies, and analysis packages.
• Represent work in reviews and with government stakeholders.
