Job summary

Piggly Wiggly is seeking a Meat Cutter to join our store team as a Master of the Craft. You will break down premium products, craft specialty items, and coach others while ensuring top quality and customer satisfaction.

You will educate guests on cuts and cooking techniques, lead by example, and maintain freshness through proper receiving and storage. This role offers flexible paths and growth within the meat department.

Qualifications

• Craftsmanship: passion for food and attention to detail required in professional meat cutting.

• Physical Strength: ability to lift at least 50 lbs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Expert Butchery: break down beef, pork, lamb, and poultry; prepare house-made sausage and ready-to-cook entrees.
• Customer Education: explain cuts and cooking techniques to guests.
• Team Mentorship: train and mentor team members on cutting, preparation, and presentation standards.
• Operational Excellence: receive/unload deliveries and store products to maintain freshness.
• Safety & Compliance: follow health, sanitation, and weights and measures procedures, ensure equipment is sanitized.
• Technical Skill: operate hazardous equipment like butcher knives, power slicers, and heated wrapping stations.
