Job summary

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, data science, or closely related field by date of application.
• Evidence of effective leadership and administrative skills including management of academic and research programs, budgets, and personnel.
• Experience securing competitive grants for research from federal, industry, and/or corporate sources.
• Understanding of the land-grant mission.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Department of Mathematics and Statistics within SDSU to advance the land-grant mission and strategic priorities.
• Steer growth and investments in research and graduate programs aligned with the Pathway to Premier 2030 plan.
• Provide organizational and administrative leadership for the department and college, including budgeting and personnel oversight.
