Job summary

LEAP in Colorado seeks a Lead Materials & Process Engineer to guide materials selection, qualification, and manufacturing-process development. You will partner with Design Engineering to align materials with product environments, own specifications and qualification activities, and mentor engineers while driving improvements across yield, cost, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of materials science, properties, degradation mechanisms.
• Experience with manufacturing process development and qualification.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Experience with root-cause and failure analysis and structured problem solving.
• Ability to run experiments, process trials, and qualification programs.
• Translate technical results into actionable recommendations.
• Knowledge of statistics, process capability, DOE, and CHO controls.
• Familiarity with quality systems and change control processes.

Responsibilities

• Own materials selection, qualification plans, and process development.
• Lead development and optimization to meet performance, reliability, cost, and schedule goals.
• Collaborate with Design Eng to select materials for environments and requirements.
• Own specifications, standards, design allowables, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead qualification, validation, and change-control activities.
• Drive root-cause investigations and failure analysis across materials and processes.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving manufacturing issues.
• Develop process controls to improve yield, reliability, and capability.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across functions (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D).
• Produce outputs: material qualification plans, specs, test plans, reports, risk assessments.
