Job description

General Summary of Position

Assists the supervisor in the overall operation of the area. Functions as a lead individual responsible for assigning and checking the work of Material Handlers and/or Material Handler Seniors in the receiving, distribution of stock and non-stock items, as well as inventory of stock items.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists with the overall operation of the assigned area. Assumes responsibility in the absence of the supervisor.
2. Assesses work to be done with the supervisor and assigns or reassigns Material Handlers and Material Handler Seniors to specific tasks or areas as needed. Answers questions concerning the work to be done.
3. Spot checks the work of Material Handlers and Material Handler Seniors, making any necessary corrections.
4. Monitors stock rotation and inventory levels. Informs the supervisor of abnormal findings or problems.
5. Takes calls from Nursing Units/OR regarding problems with supplies on exchange carts and/or STAT supply requests.
6. Assists the supervisor and manager in preparing monthly production reports, weekly meetings, training new employees, timekeeping, and employee evaluations.
7. Performs the duties of Material Handlers, Seniors, and/or Material Handlers in the absence of a full team to meet deadlines and workload demands.
8. Prepares for and participates in scheduled inventories and cycle counts.
9. Enters items removed from inventory into the computerized inventory control system.
10. Downloads next-day assignments into handheld computers.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• May require up to 1 year of technical or specialized training.

Experience

• 1 to 3 years of experience in material handling required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Driver's License (DL NUMBER - DRLIC) required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and write; knowledge of grammar and arithmetic, including fractions and decimals.
• May require use of standard office/medical equipment (e.g., typewriter, computer, data terminal, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, tables).

This position has a hiring range of $20.039 - $30.385.
