Job summary

Adient is seeking an Advanced Industrial Engineer focused on material flow automation at their Plymouth MI site. The role provides technical leadership in lean manufacturing and labor standards, mentoring IEs, and driving automation initiatives from dock to point of use.

The candidate will oversee simulations, workstation layouts, and data-driven improvements while collaborating across plants. Requires a BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial preferred), 5+ years in high-volume settings, and

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering – Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in high-volume fulfillment or distribution.
• At least 5 years designing material replenishment routes for automated/human systems.
• Strong computer skills: MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Interest to learn AMR/AGC programming.
• Experience with simulation software such as FlexSim is desired.
• Leadership and collaboration in matrix organizations; strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and visit plants extensively.

Responsibilities

• Mentor plant and COE IEs in material flow standards.
• Support development and implementation of best practices in automation of material flow.
• Develop future material flow from dock to point of use.
• Evaluate and implement best practices for material flow.
• Provide training and leadership in material flow changes.
• Maintain central databases for layouts and labor tools.
• Support labor roadmaps to reduce gaps to labor goals.
• Support establishment of future manufacturing footprint and core processes.
• Provide data to automation team on material handling operations.
