Job summary

State of Alaska AVTEC seeks an experienced instructor to lead the Alaska Maritime Training Center (AMTC). The role focuses on planning, developing, and delivering high‑quality maritime training using simulators and a modern training environment.

The incumbent will supervise six full-time instructors, work with an advisory board and grant initiatives, and participate in AVTEC leadership. Travel to remote locations may be required; background checks are standard.

Qualifications

• Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field.
• Bachelor's degree plus two years of journey-level trade experience and two years professional experience developing/adult training is required.
• Industry certification plus two years journey-level trade experience and two years training experience may meet minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, development, and delivery of training programs for AVTEC's maritime tracks.
• Lead the Alaska Maritime Training Center (AMTC) and supervise six full-time instructors plus adjuncts and advisory board.
• Coordinate budget, staffing, and use of simulators and training technologies; contribute to AVTEC leadership.
