Job summary

LEAD Staffing in Norfolk seeks an Outside Machinist Lead Marine with extensive naval ship mechanical experience. Navy repair background and NAVSEA familiarity are highly valued. The candidate must be DBID badge eligible to access naval bases and willing to work on-site in a shipyard environment.

Responsible for installing and maintaining shipboard systems, reading blueprints, and coordinating safety-critical tasks. Weekend OT may be required to meet project timelines and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of naval ship mechanical experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings and schematics.
• Experience with valve and auxiliary maintenance/repair, meters and gauges.
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Install, adjust, set and repair or replace various control systems.
• Regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, valves, governors and automatic alarms.
• Test or assist in testing of shipboard machinery.
• Lays out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connections (shafting and steam lines).
• Must have knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items applicable to position; manage daily tasks safely and on time.
• Detect and locate grounds, open circuits and short circuits in distribution generators and systems.
• Maintain and repair telephones, circuits, and associated equipment; install new power and lighting circuits.
