Job summary

Underwater Mechanix Services (UMX) seeks an experienced Marine Construction Field Superintendent to lead on-site execution of marine, heavy civil, and commercial diving projects in Jacksonville, FL. You will oversee field planning, safety, production, quality, and documentation, directing Foremen, Dive Supervisors, and subcontractors under the Project Manager’s guidance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of field experience in marine/construction environments.
• 4+ years as Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent supervising field personnel.
• Experience coordinating multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment, and work activities.
• Knowledge of marine construction methods, look-ahead planning, and production tracking.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, NAVFAC, USACE, USCG requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, reporting, and computer skills.
• Eligible for federal installation access; able to travel.
• OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification and EM 385-1-1 40 Hour Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead all site-wide construction operations through Foremen and subcontractors.
• Develop look-ahead plans and coordinate priorities, manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Monitor production, schedules, and resource utilization; coordinate corrective plans.
• Review drawings, permits, RFIs, submittals, and contract requirements; report changes and risks.
• Provide safety leadership and ensure planning and briefings are completed; enforce safety requirements.
• Ensure fieldwork meets contract and quality-control requirements; oversee punch-list and close-out activities.
• Serve as primary field contact for stakeholders; route decisions through Project Manager.
• Maintain daily reports, field logs, safety/inspection records, and change-order documentation.
• Coach Foremen and crew leaders; address performance or conduct with Project Management.
