Job summary

Seurat Technologies in Massachusetts seeks a Lead Manufacturing Integration Engineer to guide metal additive manufacturing products from concept to production. You will work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to create manufacturable, cost‑effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Materials Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • 7–10+ years in manufacturing or product development engineering.
  • 3+ years in metal additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DfAM principles and GD&T.
  • Experience with CNC machining, tooling/fixture design, heat treatment, finishing.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools: SolidWorks, Netfabb, nTop, Magics.
  • Proven leadership, planning, and hands-on problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional development of new metal AM products from concept through production launch.
  • Translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs and processes.
  • Develop development plans, design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities.
  • Serve as technical lead for NPI and end-to-end manufacturing documentation.
  • Define machining, heat treatment, finishing, inspection processes, fixtures and tooling.
  • Create and optimize 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Apply DfAM to maximize performance and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in technical reviews and project planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive Lean/Six Sigma improvements.

Lead Manufacturing Integration Engineer

The Lead Manufacturing Integration Engineer owns the development and industrialization of advanced metal additively manufactured products. This role is responsible for guiding new products from concept through production release, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. This role is expected to work hands‑on, lead cross‑functional technical decisions, and create reusable standards that improve the speed and success of future launches.

New Product Development
  • Lead cross‑functional development of new metal additive manufactured products from concept through production launch.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and convert them into manufacturable product designs.
  • Develop and execute product development plans, including design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities.
  • Serve as the technical lead for new product introductions (NPI).
  • Develop and define the end‑to‑end machining, heat treatment, finishing, and inspection processes.
  • Establish manufacturing documentation including work instructions, SOP’s, and process control plans.
  • Create and optimize 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to maximize performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Design fixtures, tooling, supports, and secondary machining strategies.
  • Perform engineering analyses including tolerance stack‑ups, thermal distortion evaluation, and structural assessments.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and project planning meetings.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to develop inspection strategies and validation plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Support qualification and certification activities for aerospace, medical, defense, or industrial applications.
  • Evaluate emerging additive manufacturing post‑processing technologies, materials, and software.
  • Lead process development initiatives to improve part quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support equipment selection, installation, and commissioning of new manufacturing systems.
  • Support quotation activities by estimating manufacturing costs and production timelines.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7–10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or product development.
  • 3+ years of experience with metal additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DfAM principles.
  • Experience with CNC machining, tooling and fixture design, heat treatment, finishing, and secondary manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Netfabb, nTop, and Magics or comparable tools
  • Experience interpreting GD&T, engineering drawings and inspection results.
  • Strong technical leadership, project planning, communication, and hands‑on problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Knowledge of titanium, stainless steel, nickel superalloys, aluminum, cobalt chrome, or tool steels.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and topology optimization.
  • Experience with CAM programming, five‑axis machining, wire EDM, CMM, CT scanning, metallography, and surface metrology.
  • Experience with FEA, topology optimization, thermal distortion prediction, or tolerance simulation.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAI/AS9102, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and statistical qualification.
  • Experience supporting capital‑equipment selection and commissioning.
Massachusetts Salary Range

$130,000 - $150,000 USD
