Job Overview

The Lead Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams, screenings, and diagnostic studies, and assists during invasive procedures. Under the physician's direction, the technologist detects breast tissue abnormalities and presents findings for diagnosis. Responsibilities include delivering patient care and education, serving as a technical resource, assisting in developing procedures, participating in quality assurance, and supporting administrative duties such as training, scheduling, and mentoring staff. The role may include supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate mammography equipment and perform examinations for screening and diagnosis.
• Ensure proper patient and breast positioning, instruct patients, and adjust equipment for optimal imaging.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards, document procedures, and maintain equipment through quality checks and troubleshooting.
• Assist in department scheduling, staff training, and administrative tasks.
• Provide guidance to technical staff and support department management in workload evaluation and staff development.
• Perform additional duties related to quality assurance and departmental operations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of mammographic imaging techniques and ability to produce diagnostic images.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid mammography certification.
