Job summary

UW Medicine’s Harborview Medical Center in Seattle seeks a Lead Mammography Technologist for 100% FTE. You will serve as clinical and operational lead for mammography services, overseeing daily workflow, QA activities, regulatory compliance, and staff development.

The role requires ARRT Mammography certification, state licensure, and leadership or supervisory experience. You will coordinate scheduling, ensure image quality and safety, and collaborate with radiologists and physicists.

Qualifications

• Completion of an AMA-approved radiologic technology training program.
• ARRT registration and one year of experience in mammography OR six months of experience with prior leadership.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except for licenses or registrations.

Responsibilities

• Operate all mammography equipment and follow proper imaging techniques.
• Schedule, begin, complete, and cancel exams in RIS.
• Assign, instruct, and monitor mammography staff.
• Serve as primary clinical resource for workflow, image quality, and equipment questions.

The Lead Mammography Technologist acts as a subject matter expert and resource for mammography staff, radiologists, physicists, and leadership, promoting high standards of care, image quality, safety, and operational efficiency.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESIndependently operates all mammography equipment and adheres to proper imaging techniques.Schedules, begins, completes, and cancels exams in the Radiology Information System (RIS).Reviews imaging orders for accuracy and ensures appropriate exam selection based on patient signs and symptoms; seeks clarification when needed.Regularly assigns, instructs, and monitors the work of mammography staff.Serves as the primary clinical resource for mammography workflow, patient care, image quality, and equipment questions.Coordinates daily patient scheduling and workflow to ensure efficient operations.REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONSSatisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) And one year of experience in applicable modality OR A minimum of 6 months of technical experience in the applicable modality AND previous leadership experience.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.Legal RequirementCertified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.
