Job summary

McGill Environmental Systems is hiring a Lead Maintenance Technician to support our maintenance operations. This hands-on leadership role involves prioritizing repairs, coordinating preventive maintenance, diagnosing diesel trucks and heavy equipment, and mentoring other technicians to keep operations safe and efficient.

You'll lead by example, develop the maintenance team, ensure DOT inspections and compliance, and drive reliability and uptime across production equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Minimum 5 years of experience repairing diesel trucks, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or similar machinery.
• Strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, brakes, steering, suspension, and drivetrains.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, and lifting devices.
• Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance records.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership, direction, and technical support to maintenance technicians.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and repair priorities.
• Diagnose and repair diesel trucks, heavy equipment, forklifts, trailers, and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and drivetrains.
• Diagnose complex equipment failures using diagnostic software and testing equipment.
• Repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, hoses, fittings, and control systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical wiring, sensors, controllers, charging systems, and electronic modules.
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicle compliance.
• Perform welding, cutting, and light fabrication work.
• Train, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and review completed repair work.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs.
• Maintain accurate work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
• Support OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company compliance requirements.
• Assist with facility improvements, major repairs, and equipment installations.
