Job Overview

Maintain equipment in the best possible running condition with minimum downtime and cost. Perform journeyman-level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems.

General Responsibilities

• Lead tech on the nightshift and provide help, guidance and leadership to the night shift techs.
• Assist with maintenance initiatives and monitor compliance of all safety policies. Actively participate in “downs”, meetings, projects, and work on specific work orders as needed.
• Co‑manage the fire/security system at the facility.
• Manage general facility maintenance – snow removal, lawn/landscape maintenance, HVAC.
• Actively participate in ongoing training within the department for each employee.
• Communicate to all crews and shifts the events of the shift to ensure a smooth and highly productive handoff.
• Facilitate resolution of problems that may arise within the maintenance area and bring unresolved issues to the Production Manager.
• Understand bearing removal and installation practices.
• Pipefitting skills and proficiency at using hand tools, portable electric tools, and stationary shop equipment.
• Value preventive and predictive maintenance practices such as daily rounds and lubrication.
• Understand rigging fundamentals.
• Ability to go online and troubleshoot and advance PLC programming.
• Knowledge of contactors, starters, motors, and motor controls.
• Install and maintain various electrical controls and automation.
• Wire 460/230‑volt 3‑phase motors.
• Understand servo, hydraulic, and pneumatically actuated equipment.
• Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial establishment.
• Experience with electric motors from fractional hp to 600 hp including servo‑driven motors.
• Repair belt, chain, and sprocket conveyor systems.
• All other tasks as assigned.

Requirements For Success

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good mechanical aptitude and machine operating skills.
• Willingness to work various hours depending on production and training schedules.

Education

• High school diploma preferred.
• Technical or vocational degree and demonstrated related equivalent experience preferred.
• Manufacturing or paper converting experience is preferred.
