Overview
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians, troubleshoots equipment, coordinates repairs, and ensures production runs with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the maintenance team.
- Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on industrial machinery (e.g., conveyors, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs).
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues quickly and safely.
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Assign work orders and monitor progress using Plex systems.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize equipment-related delays.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and internal procedures (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, PPE usage).
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of parts/supplies.
- Tracking down and ordering parts as needed.
- Communicate with vendors via phone and email to troubleshoot machinery.
- Assist in installation of new equipment and facility upgrades.
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide emergency maintenance support as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience
- 5+ years of electrical troubleshooting with 120/208/240/480-volt service, also with low voltage DC current
- Proven experience with electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of PLCs, drives, and control systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with tools and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred
- OSHA safety training (e.g., LOTO, confined space) preferred
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Stand, walk, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods
- Work in hot, cold, or noisy industrial environments
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Full‑time position
- Must be available for overtime, and weekend shifts as needed
- Work is performed in a manufacturing plant setting with exposure to moving machinery and industrial hazards
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Compensation: The hourly range for this full-time position is $33 - $40 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role.
