Job description

Overview

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians, troubleshoots equipment, coordinates repairs, and ensures production runs with minimal downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily operations of the maintenance team.
  • Perform hands-on repairs and maintenance on industrial machinery (e.g., conveyors, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs).
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues quickly and safely.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Assign work orders and monitor progress using Plex systems.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize equipment-related delays.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and internal procedures (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, PPE usage).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of parts/supplies.
  • Tracking down and ordering parts as needed.
  • Communicate with vendors via phone and email to troubleshoot machinery.
  • Assist in installation of new equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide emergency maintenance support as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience
  • 5+ years of electrical troubleshooting with 120/208/240/480-volt service, also with low voltage DC current
  • Proven experience with electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of PLCs, drives, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with tools and safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred
  • OSHA safety training (e.g., LOTO, confined space) preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Stand, walk, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods
  • Work in hot, cold, or noisy industrial environments
Work Schedule & Conditions
  • Full‑time position
  • Must be available for overtime, and weekend shifts as needed
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant setting with exposure to moving machinery and industrial hazards

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Compensation: The hourly range for this full-time position is $33 - $40 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role. Irwin is happy to offer a full comprehensive benefits package, with insurance coverage starting on the first day of employment.
