Job summary

Hunterdon Health is seeking a Lead Maintenance Mechanic to serve as the primary Facilities Management representative for offsite and ambulatory locations, managing skilled maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems. The role includes leading a maintenance team, prioritizing work orders, and mentoring junior staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in building maintenance or related fields.
• 2–3 years of healthcare facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Previous experience in lead mechanic or supervisory role preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate Hunterdon Health vehicles.
• Certifications in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or related trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary facilities representative for offsite locations and act as liaison to site leadership and central facilities operations.
• Coordinate, schedule, and prioritize maintenance activities across multiple locations.
• Perform skilled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, doors, and life-safety systems.
• Support Environment of Care, regulatory readiness, and safety inspections at offsite facilities.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate recovery efforts with vendors as needed.
• Mentor junior mechanics and guide maintenance personnel across offsite locations.
• Lead onboarding and training for new maintenance staff assigned to offsite facilities.
