Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a maintenance technician to join its manufacturing team in Lawrenceville, GA. This role supports the Maintenance and/or Engineering Manager with maintenance of equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and productive environment. Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30pm - 9:30pm with flexibility for 24/7 operations.

Bonus eligibility based on performance. Candidates should have at least 5 years of mechanical experience in manufacturing or distribution, and

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing or distribution environment required.
• Leadership experience preferred (1+ year) in supervising others or leading teams.
• Formal training or experience applying continuous improvement tools (Six Sigma, 5S, Lean, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support shift set-up including scheduling and maintenance planning.
• Monitor productivity and shift activity; report findings.
• Contribute ideas to improve or optimize maintenance procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on equipment.
• Repair machines promptly and identify causes of breakdowns.
• Order and install replacement parts; maintain building systems (HVAC, lighting, etc.).
• Lead maintenance personnel and train mechanics.
• Maintain shop areas, tools, and supplies; ensure safety and quality standards.

Job description

This position is an essential part of Sherwin's manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance and/or Engineering Manager or Supervisor while contributing to the proper maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facility as a maintenance technician. This position performs various maintenance tasks as assigned and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive working environment.

Additional Information

Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30pm - 9:30pm with flexibility to support a 24/7 operation

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and vendors.

• Support shift set-up including scheduling, and maintenance planning
• Monitor and report on productivity, and other relevant shift activity

• Abide by and promote all company safety and quality expectations
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on equipment
• Repair broken machines and equipment quickly and efficiently
• Identify causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines
• Order and install replacement parts for machines
• Maintain and service building equipment including HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc.
• Maintain documentation as required
• Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies
• Maintain technical knowledge through training
• Lead Maintenance Personnel
• Train and develop maintenance mechanics
• Emergency call-in as required

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
• Must have at least five (5) years of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have at least one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams
• Have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
• Have a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory
• Have knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programming
• Have an industrial, electrical, or welding certification or license
