Job summary

City of Rowlett, Texas is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work on the City’s water, wastewater, streets and drainage systems. You will assist in planning, leading crews, and ensuring safety at all work sites.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 3 years in construction/maintenance of water distribution and sewer systems, plus a valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in construction, maintenance, or repair of water distribution and sewer systems.
• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Must reside within 1-hour response time and relocate within 6 months.
• Must hold, or obtain within 12 months, Class C Water Distribution License and Wastewater Collection System Class 2 License.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform strenuous tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist Crew Leader in planning and scheduling construction, maintenance and operation activities.
• Perform labor in water, wastewater, street and drainage projects as part of a crew.
• Operate equipment and perform maintenance and repairs on systems.
• Respond to leaks, pressure loss, and sewer issues; inform residents and business owners.
• Assist in training Maintenance Specialists I & II.
• Maintain site safety, barricades, and proper equipment handling.
