Job summary

Programmers.io is seeking a senior technologist to lead end-to-end IBM Mainframe migration to Java engagements in New York. You will drive architecture, coordinate with external teams, and deliver secure, scalable migration solutions.

Ideal candidates have extensive Mainframe experience (z/OS, COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM) and proven leadership in complex migration programs, with a focus on delivery, stakeholder alignment, and technical mentorship.

Qualifications

• Must have IBM Mainframe experience (z/OS) including COBOL, JCL, CICS and DB2
• Strong understanding of Mainframe-to-Java migration
• Proven leadership in complex migration programs and delivery governance
• Experience coordinating with external teams and vendors, managing stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Mainframe migration projects to Java.
• Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across teams.
• Coordinate with external vendors to align deliverables and timelines.
• Monitor progress, remove blockers, and ensure timely, quality delivery.
