Job summary

Industrial Talent Group is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Lead CNC Machinist for a growing precision manufacturing operation in Colorado supporting aerospace, defense, and high‑tolerance components. You will lead CNC machining on 2nd shift, mentor machinists, troubleshoot complex jobs, perform setups and prove-outs, and leverage Mastercam for multi‑axis work while reading GD&T from intricate drawings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of CNC machining experience with leadership exposure.
• Strong multi-axis machining expertise and complex setup capability.
• Proven mentoring and supervisory ability on a shift.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across tooling, offsets, and programs.
• Excellent blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation for tight tolerances.
• Experience taking a job from setup through successful production.
• Proficient in reading complex engineering prints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support CNC machining operations during 2nd shift.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to machinists.
• Perform complex CNC setups and prove-outs.
• Mastercam programming experience.
• Troubleshoot tooling, workholding, offsets, programs, and machining issues.
• Work with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Assist with optimizing machining processes, cycle times, and tool life.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Machine tight-tolerance components for aerospace and other demanding industries.
• Verify parts using precision measuring equipment.
• Help maintain quality and production standards throughout the shift.
• Communicate issues, priorities, and production status with management and other shifts.
• Mentor and develop less-experienced machinists.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred
• Strong setup and troubleshooting experience
• Mastercam programming experience
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machining
• Ability to independently take a job from setup through successful production
• Strong understanding of tooling, speeds and feeds, workholding, and machining strategy
• Experience machining tight-tolerance components
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
• Experience with aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing strongly preferred
• Previous lead or mentoring experience is preferred

Compensation

$40-$50/hour, depending on experience.

This position is ideal for a high-level machinist who wants to remain hands-on while stepping into a leadership role on 2nd shift.
