The Merge and Insert Lead Operator is a skilled position requiring in-depth knowledge of processes and equipment in the assigned work area. The role involves setting up and operating equipment, training employees on safe and efficient operation, and troubleshooting as needed.
The Operator follows a detailed schedule to fulfill jobs on time and ensures all products meet quality standards, reworking or scrapping substandard products. The position demands attention to detail, urgency, customer focus, technical aptitude, good communication, and a mindset for continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieves daily throughput and quality goals by maintaining equipment uptime and accuracy.
- Performs preventive maintenance according to OEM and departmental procedures.
- Operates equipment such as card attaching, carrier printing, and inserting machines.
- Reads and understands operator manuals and training documents.
- Coordinates with Material Handlers and Warehouse to ensure availability of raw materials.
- Serves as a subject matter expert, collaborating with engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations teams.
- Participates in the Train the Trainer program and completes required training.
- Leads new Operators through training, including procedures, on-the-job support, and assessments.
- Works with IT and operations to resolve setup and file issues.
- Recommends improvements to increase quality, availability, and productivity.
- Ensures accurate data selection and completes quality checks and counts.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and implements 5S practices.
- Follows safety regulations and company policies.
- Produces high-quality products efficiently with minimal scrap.
- Adheres to ISO work instructions and completes production documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma.
- Preferred: 6+ months experience in equipment operation in personalization or fulfillment.
- Experience in training others is a plus.
- Mathematical skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, IQ preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a demanding environment.

- Ability to work independently or in a team.
