Job summary

UK St. Claire in Morehead, KY seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver nursing care under physician supervision.

You will perform patient care, administrative tasks, and triage in line with protocols, supporting the orthopedic team to maintain smooth clinic operations and safe patient flow. Responsibilities include documenting medications, preparing patients, collecting vitals, maintaining records, and assisting with new employee orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in nursing.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
• Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
• Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Responsibilities

• Assists medical staff with examinations, treatments, and procedures according to nursing guidelines.
• Prepares patients for visits by obtaining vitals, medical history, and updating health maintenance information.
• Prepares, administers, and documents medications following established policies and safety practices.
• Collects specimens and gathers pertinent health data for laboratory analysis and assessment.
• Provides and documents patient and family education based on care, treatment, and identified risks.
• Performs nursing procedures and basic patient care as permitted by licensure and assigned by medical staff.
• Manages medical records, ensures clinical area security, and maintains accurate documentation.
• Acts as a leader for the orthopedic team, supporting daily operations and anticipating clinical needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
