Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
• Current CPR Certification is required.
• Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants. Plan the shift’s services, programs and activities.
• Prepare and file required record-keeping forms/charts for admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Develop and maintain good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel to ensure nursing services meet resident needs.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, dressings, blood draws, and ROM exercises as required.
• Monitor staff to ensure safety regulations in equipment use.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and ensure privacy of care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
