Job summary

Penske Logistics is seeking a Lead Load Planner in Reading, PA to coordinate load planning and freight movement. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with on-site duties four days a week.

Responsibilities include supervising, mentoring, shift management, running process metrics, and coordinating with 3PLs and customers. Travel to Penske or customer sites and a willingness to learn and adapt are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Business or Supply Chain preferred.
• Experience in logistics services including warehouse, distribution, or supply chain management preferred.
• Transportation Management experience preferred; Load planning experience preferred.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work with a team and support team needs.
• Ability to prioritize customer and business needs and drive customer delight.
• Excellent communication, organizational and PC skills (MS Office).
• Attention to detail and accuracy; ability to learn quickly and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Support supervisor on process management activities and customer communication.
• Indirect team management responsibilities delegated by Supervisor or Account manager.
• Shift management for a single customer or across customers.
• Travel to Penske or customer on-site locations as required.
• Run metrics to manage process controls.
• Train the team on load planning activities and update SOPs.
• Plan and optimize shipments into loads using Penske’s Transportation Management System.
• Tender freight to 3rd party carriers.
• Maintain Transportation Management Systems.
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries; act as escalation point.
• Work with Operations Managers to meet customer expectations.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Stay current on the customer''s industry.
