A Better Childhood in New York, NY, is seeking a Deputy Director for Litigation & Advocacy to lead high-stakes class actions and drive systemic reform in foster care. This hybrid role reports to the Founder and Executive Director and focuses on developing a talented legal team and building external partnerships.

The successful candidate will bring 8–10 years of progressive legal experience, strong federal court practice, leadership skills, and a commitment to ABC’s mission.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressively responsible legal experience including substantial federal court practice.
• Experience leading high-stakes class action or impact litigation preferred.
• Strong leadership, mentorship, and capacity-building能力.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact federal litigation advancing ABC’s mission and systemic reform in foster care.
• Develop creative legal strategies and compelling narratives to support litigation and advocacy.
• Supervise and develop a diverse team of lawyers; build external partnerships with firms and pro bono counsel.
• Contribute to organizational leadership and fundraising through external relationship building.
