Job summary

Excel Hotel Group seeks a Lead Cook to supervise daily kitchen operations at the Tempo By Hilton San Diego Del Mar property, ensuring high-quality food and consistency while maintaining safety standards. This role supports line staff, coordinates service flow, and upholds cleanliness across the kitchen.

You will train staff, monitor quality, reduce waste, and collaborate with front-of-house to deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of relevant kitchen/work experience preferred.
• Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily kitchen operations and ensure food quality.
• Train staff on recipes, safety, and station responsibilities.
• Maintain cleanliness, FIFO, and proper stock rotation.
• Coordinate with front-of-house for smooth service flow.
• Monitor waste, portions, and adherence to standards.
• Assist with opening/closing duties and equipment checks.
