Job summary

The Freeman Company is seeking a Lighting Project Designer to plan and coordinate lighting for produced events. You will serve as the local expert on current gear and emerging technology, educating staff and coordinating with the Audio Visual & Event Technology team.

This full-time role follows an in-office and show-site schedule across Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. You will evaluate staff competency, design lighting plots, manage equipment logistics, and stay

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• 10 years’ lighting production experience with 5 years in corporate events, entertainment, or theater.
• Ability to engineer instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to communicate installation and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Advanced understanding of lighting systems, electricity, DMX, and lighting design fundamentals.
• Experience with Hog or GrandMA lighting consoles and networking protocols.
• Experience drawing system design in AutoCAD, VectorWorks and/or Lightwright.
• Experience with pre-visualization software.

Responsibilities

• Develop lighting designs with clients, sales, operations, and project managers.
• Create wiring diagrams and lighting plots for shows based on budgets.
• Recommend lighting personnel during scheduling to optimize resources.
• Evaluate Lighting Specialists to maintain Freeman quality standards.
• Review procedures and suggest improvements for efficiency.
• Oversee equipment logistics and inter-branch gear usage.
