Job summary

The City of Idaho Falls is seeking a Head Lifeguard to ensure the safety of pool participants and to supervise lifeguards during shifts. This temporary, part-time role requires 15–30 hours per week with varied shifts, under Aquatics supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining pool and guardroom cleanliness, enforcing safety rules, coordinating lifeguard schedules, and reporting incidents. Certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, AED, and pool operations are required or obtainable

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Lifeguard Certification required.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
• First Aid certificate required.
• AED certification required.
• Oxygen Administration certification required.
• Idaho Pool Operators Certification required.
• Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lifeguards and pool for each shift.
• Ensure adequate coverage at all times.
• Decide on actions affecting lifeguards.
• Clean and maintain pool area, guardroom, deck and locker rooms.
• Attend staff meetings with aquatics management.
• Enforce emergency procedures and safety regulations.
• Assist in chemical balance and documentation of chemicals.
