Job summary

Shift Lead Lifeguard at Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, part of Jewish Silicon Valley, will supervise lifeguarding operations and provide exceptional member service.

Responsibilities include assisting Aquatics Director with daily pool operations, ensuring safety, enforcing cleanliness, and addressing member concerns while leading fellow guards during shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum 2 years lifeguarding experience.
• Strong customer relation skills.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Background fingerprint assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Guard the pool and ensure swimmer safety.
• Assist Aquatics Director with daily pool operations.
• Be a role model for other guards and enforce rules.
• Address member concerns and communicate to supervisor as needed.
• Support staff with secondary duties and programming needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe conditions around pool area.

The Lead Lifeguard will be responsible for assisting the Aquatic Director, Assistant Director, and/or Coordinator with daily operations of the aquatic department along with guarding the pool and assuring a safe and clean aquatic environment for members and guests.**Areas of** **Responsibility:*** Perform pump room checks and notify Aquatics Director of any issues.* Perform chemical checks as indicated.* Be a good role model for other guards* Be the primary contact for any member concerns, communicate concerns to your supervisor in case follow up is needed.* Be available for members at all times; work closely and communicate effectively with Aquatic Director.* Assist staff with secondary duties* Help Aquatics Director organize and deal with the day to day programming and happenings at the pool* Assist Aquatics director with in-services* Ensure and enforce cleaning duties and schedules are adhered to in a timely manner* Perform other tasks and duties as business and management dictates.## Qualifications**Qualifications and competencies:*** 18 years of age or older* Minimum 2 years life guarding experience.* High customer relation skills* Required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays* Attend mandatory meetings and events, to include but not limited to; Lifeguard and In-Service Training Float Nights, Membership & Employee Appreciation Events, etc.* ***This position is contingent upon completion and clearance of a background fingerprint assessment.*****Education/Special Licenses*** Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification**Working Conditions/Physical requirements:*** Fitness Center/Community Center environment* Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures and weather conditions* Ability to work safely both in and out of pool* Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs.* Ability to stand, sit, lift, bend, twist* Outdoor/pool deck environment* Work in the vicinity of children and older adultsThe working conditions described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
