Job summary

Lumotive is seeking an Optoelectronics Systems Engineer to help build the next generation of lidar in a start-up environment. You will architect, prototype, debug, tune, and refine hardware in the lab and influence our system architecture while collaborating with hardware, optics, firmware, and software teams.

You will lead design reviews, develop Python-based calibration and automation tools, advance signal processing for lidar performance, and ensure robust cross-domain integration with FPGA

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in electrical/optical physics or related field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in optoelectronic or photonic systems.
• Proven track record in system integration, debugging, and cross-domain collaboration.
• Strong Python skills for automation, calibration, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of LCM-based lidar systems with cross-functional teams.
• Act as technical lead for adoption and integration of reference designs.
• Develop Python-based calibration, automation, and diagnostics tools.
• Refine calibration and signal processing to optimize lidar performance.
• Collaborate with FPGA, firmware, optics, and electrical teams on interface requirements.
• Drive characterization of lasers, photodetectors, and optoelectronic components.
• Participate in hardware and system design reviews for integration and testability.
• Present data and methods to technical and leadership teams.
