Job summary

Milwaukee County is seeking a Laundry Plant Operator for the Community Reintegration Center in Wisconsin. The role will oversee 40-50 resident workers, assigning workloads, and ensuring deadlines and quality expectations are met.

Work hours are 4am-12:00pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime. The job requires reliable transportation, adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and the ability to operate industrial laundry equipment.

Qualifications

• Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
• Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required upon application and must be maintained throughout employment
• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required
• Basic knowledge of all job-related computer and software applications required

Responsibilities

• Prioritize workloads, assess resources, supervise and control the flow of goods
• Orientate, develop and assess the capabilities of resident labor
• Expedite Laundry – supervise resident workers to unroll/fold, screen refuse/rejects, sort, weigh, stage, load, transfer, dry, fold, hang, stack, size, count, roll, cover, tag, load and deliver textiles
• Maintain a safe, regulatory compliant workplace; ensure proper PPE and hygiene
• Gather/record production data and draft reports
• Customer service—maintain professional phone etiquette and handle special requests, errors, shortages and disputes
• Provide security related support including counts and escorts
• Interact with IT—respond to email, initiate work orders, monitor machinery and troubleshoot faults
• Provide other institutional support functions including repairs and contractor coordination
• Operate industrial washers, dryers, ironers, pallet jacks, chemical testers and computers
• Lift up to 50 lbs; push/pull up to 700 lbs; carry and transport goods safely
• Other duties as assigned
