Job summary

MANTECH seeks a Chief Engineer to lead launch vehicle (LV) systems engineering, spanning propulsion, avionics, structures, mechanical systems, guidance, data analysis, software productivity tools, and manufacturing engineering. The role is based at Cape Canaveral, FL, supporting USSF Space Force operations and NSSL initiatives.

The position requires coordinating design reviews, risk management, and technical recommendations for senior stakeholders, including briefings and performance analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical or STEM field.
• 15+ years systems engineering, technical program management, or related experience.
• 4+ years of NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD, NASA, or industry launch/space systems experience.
• Knowledge/experience with LV systems (propulsion, avionics, hydraulics, ground support, structures).
• Experience with USSF and NASA launch and range systems and operations, including LV design, processing, integration, testing, and anomaly resolution.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior LV systems engineering expertise at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, supporting USSF missions.
• Oversee requirements, design reviews, test reviews, hardware acceptance, performance verification, and post-flight analyses; lead engineering boards and risk assessments.
• Prepare and support launch contractor reviews, site walkdowns, rehearsals, launch operations, and anomaly resolution processes; manage engineering data.
