Job summary

Garten Services in Salem, Oregon, is seeking a Landscape Team Lead to supervise daily grounds maintenance tasks and ensure quality workmanship. You’ll direct a small crew, schedule assignments, and uphold safety and customer service standards on outdoor projects.

Job Details

Job Location: Hawthorne - Salem, OR 97301-5085, Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.50 Hourly

Essential Functions

• Directs team members with focus on quality and safety.
• Completes tasks in a specific time frame with proper tools and equipment.
• Maintains daily log of assignments and contractual tasks.
• Performs lawn and landscape maintenance services including, but not limited to the following:
  • Watering of turf, plants, trees, shrubs, and other landscape material.
  • Mowing and edging turf grass.
  • Weeding of turf, planted, and grounds areas.
  • Raking turf and planted areas to gather leaves, grass, cuttings, dirt, bark, and other landscape waste for collection and removal.
  • Trimming and pruning of trees, plants, and shrubs.
  • Picking up and disposing of trash, debris, and other extraneous matter from hard surfaces as well as turf and planted areas.
  • Other miscellaneous services performed safely and in compliance with all Garten policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position leads their assigned landscape team. This position maintains written documentation of assignments and contractual tasks. This position will also provide feedback to the team and supervisor.

Specific Job Skills Required

• Be proficient in all aspects of grounds maintenance and custodial services tasks/duties.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment and/or take independent action.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Physical ability to operate grounds maintenance and cleaning equipment.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs, and make repetitive motions of the arms/hands.
• Physical ability to push/pull, up to 350 pounds with assistance as needed throughout a normal workday.
• Excellent eye-hand coordination.

Education and/or Experience Required

• A minimum of 6 – 12 months experience/training in general grounds maintenance work.
• High school education or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead role.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance.

Job Conditions

• This position requires the incumbent to work in an environment where there is regular exposure to inclement weather and there may be exposure to fumes, noise, dirt, dust, odors, temperature fluctuations, chemicals. Other working conditions include: Working alone; on-call status; shift work; contact with disagreeable individuals; and frequent interruptions. May be required to attend meetings outside of regular shift.

*Schedule is mainly days Mon.-Fri with occasional weekends. Duties performed in all weather with majority of tasks outside.
