McHale Landscape Design, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Foreman in the Sterling, VA area to oversee on-site residential maintenance contracts and supervise a small crew.

The role starts early, requires Saturday work during peak season, and involves operating a wide range of landscape equipment. Responsibilities include coordinating daily crew activities, loading/unloading materials, and ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion of projects while maintaining equipment and reporting daily

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–2 years experience in the landscape/construction industry.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and DOT.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Speak, read, and write in English.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through the work shift.
• Ability to work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold.
• Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Aid in loading/unloading trucks and trailers in the AM and PM.
• Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse and water turf areas.
• Move and install soil, mulch and plant material for landscape projects.
• Operate power equipment (lawn tractors, mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedgetrimmers, saws).
• Supervise and schedule day-to-day work of a landscape crew of 2–5 employees.
• Delegate tasks to crew members to complete projects.
• Conduct on-site orientations for new employees and positions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment daily.
• Prepare and submit required paperwork daily.
• Comply with company policies and PPE standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, trailers, equipment, and jobsites.
• Ensure safety compliance on jobsites and shop/yard.
• Provide customer communication in a polite and courteous manner.
