Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor Supervisor to lead a district survey unit and oversee professional surveying services for transportation projects. You will ensure compliance with VDOT policies and APELSCIDLA rules, and sign/seal survey plans as the licensed LS.

You will coordinate survey activities, prepare technical reports, manage project scopes, timelines and budgets, and provide geospatial data support for construction and maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Land Surveyor's License and have experience interpreting plans, deeds, and road/bridge standards.
• Proficient in CADD, GPS, and field surveying equipment; able to manage survey data processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a district survey unit or office, overseeing professional land surveying services for transportation projects.
• Prepare technical reports for public or private sectors and supervise special survey requests from various departments and consultants.
• Develop construction activity lists, estimate costs for surveying work, and manage project scheduling to support VDOT programs.
• Sign and seal survey plans as licensed land surveyor and perform quality control reviews.
